Color Studies and Miniatures
I sometimes do small, fast color studies in the field in order to capture the lighting and color in a scene before they change, working even more quickly and loosely than in most of my plein air pieces. They are also valuable to me as initial experiments in composition for possible future work.
Miniatures are approached more like larger pieces, either in the studio or painting plein air. In some cases, I may decide to do a similar piece in a large format later, having first explored the idea with the small study.
These small pieces offer a very affordable opportunity to get started collecting original art, or to own work that offers a fundamental look at the artist's vision and method. As with all originals, shipping within the lower 48 states is free. PayPal or personal checks are accepted.
Miniatures
These pieces are all priced at $140 in small, solid wood frames, or at $115 unframed. Frames (mostly gold tone) vary slightly, and are chosen to complement the particular painting. These represent just some of the many small pieces available, either directly from the artist or through listed galleries.They are all available in a wider frame style that creates a larger installation, priced at $160.
